Description
Eric Kandel's research focuses on how memory works. One of his own memories from growing up in Vienna in the 1930s was his ninth birthday. He received a model car that had wished for. Two days later, on November 9, 1938, Kristallnacht took place, when the Nazis subjected Jews in Germany and Austria to severe persecution. The Kandel family was forced to leave their home, which was then looted. Among other things, the Nazis took the toy car, but Kandel preserved it in his memory. Later life he was given similar toy cars as gifts. This is one of those cars.
